Hundreds of Zero Electric Motorcycles Are Recalled Due to Braking Defect

By John Cooper, Virginia Motorcycle Accident Lawyer

As a Virginia defective products injury lawyer, I see far too many recalls being issued over malfunctioning auto parts which can be harmful to life or limb.

When parts such as brakes are affected, the consequences can be truly terrifying.

I was alarmed to read about how the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recalled a large number of Zero motorcycles due to defective brakes.

The NHTSA recalls affects some 268 electric motorcycles manufactured by Zero. The NHTSA says certain 2011 and 2012 Zero S and DS motorcycles may have a defective front caliper mounting bolt.

This bolt is susceptible to corrosion and may crack or fracture under certain circumstances,

“This could in turn, lead to the caliper coming loose and possibly stop the wheel from turning, increasing the chance of a severe crash, with very bad consequences on rider’s health and potentially causing high property damage,” reported autoevolution.

The front brake calipers will be replaced free of charge. Owners may get in contact with Zero calling 1-888-841-8085 or paying a visit to their dealers and ask for directions.

Riding a motorcycle can be dangerous enough without defects causing additional risks. If you have been injured on a motorcycle contact an experienced Virginia Beach motorcycle accident lawyer for a free consultation.
