By John Cooper, Suffolk, VA Motorcyclist Accident Injury Attorney
The crash was reported shortly after 8:15 a.m. in the 3300 block of the road, the City of Suffolk said in news release.
The condition of the motorcyclist was not given by police. As an experienced Suffolk motorcycle accident lawyer, I am aware patients who are airlifted are often in a serious condition.
Motorcyclists are the most vulnerable road users on the highways of Suffolk, Chesapeake, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
Even a crash at a low speed can leave riders in a serious and life threatening condition and head and spinal injuries are not uncommon.
In May 2012, I reported on a serious motorcycle accident in Suffolk that left one rider read and another seriously injured.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) there are more than 100,000 motorcycle accidents every year. Because motorcyclists lack any external covering or protection, riders are 39 times more likely to die in a motor vehicle accident than other motorists, and they also stand a significantly higher chance of sustaining a serious personal injury.
My thoughts are with this rider and his family. The circumstances of the collision or if another motorist was to blame have not yet been released.
